Varicocele Embolization Treatment

Varicocele embolization is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicoceles—enlarged veins in the scrotum that can cause pain, swelling, and infertility. Unlike traditional surgical approaches, this technique offers a non-surgical solution with quicker recovery and fewer complications.

During the procedure, an interventional radiologist inserts a catheter into a vein in the groin or neck and guides it to the affected testicular veins using real-time imaging. A blocking agent, such as coils or a sclerosing solution, is then used to seal off the problematic vein, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins. This reduces pressure, alleviates discomfort, and improves sperm quality in men facing infertility issues.

Varicocele embolization is performed under local anesthesia and allows patients to resume normal activities within a few days.
